West Oʻahu, Leeward, Honolulu and Kapiʻolani were recently named among a select group of higher education institutions nationwide for inclusion in the G.I. Jobs Military Friendly Schools 2012 List. G.I. Jobs is the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life.

The list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students. Schools on the list range from state universities and private colleges to community colleges and trade schools.

For the first time this year, G.I. Jobs incorporated a survey of student veterans as part of the list criteria, providing prospective military students with insight into the student veteran experience based on peer reviews.

A full story and detailed list of Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools and on a poster, both of which will be distributed to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October.
