Seven faculty members were honored with the Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching–Windward’s Leticia Colmenares, Mānoa’s Erin Cozens, Maui’s Hiroko DeLeon, West Oʻahu’s Linda Furuto, Mānoa’s Tomoko Iwai, Kapiʻolani’s Susan Jaworowski and Hilo’s Sarah Marusek.

Windward Student Honored with Kunimoto Award

Leslie Baker, a plant biotechnology student at Windward, received the Masaki and Momoe Kunimoto Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Career and Technical Education.

Kapiʻolani Culinary Professor Honored

The American Academy of Chefs honored Kapiʻolani Professor Frank Leake with the Sharing Culinary Traditions Award.

Hilo Honors Outstanding Service

Keiki Kawaiʻaeʻa, Kirk Mikami, Rebecca Ostertag and Kolby Santiago are honored with the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Chancellor’s Award.

Cartwright Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Mānoa College of Education Professor Brenda Y. Cartwright received the Virgie Winston-Smith Lifetime Achievement Award.

Community Colleges Recognizes Excellence

The University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges honors Kauaʻi’s Leah Lei Agustin, Leeward’s Ron Felipe, Windward’s Susan Ma, Hawaiʻi’s Jodi Mine, Honolulu’s Zane Nedbalek, Maui’s Georgette Tanaka and Leeward’s Evelyn Wong.

Governor’s Award Nominees Announced

The university has nominated Mānoa’s Morris K. Lai, System’s Lui K. Hokoana (nominated by Windward) and the team from Leeward’s Waiʻanae Education Center Team for the 2011 Governor’s Awards.

Joanne Cooper Honored with Mentoring Award

Joanne Cooper, a professor in the Mānoa College of Education’s Department of Educational Administration, has been honored with 2011 Distinguished Graduate Mentoring Award.
