Cultural training for faculty occurs in a variety of settings.  Some of the new NHCOE initiated faculty trainings include:

1.  Weekly: Hawaiian language classes
2. Monthly: work in the JABSOM native plant garden (Mala Lapa’au) with lectures from a native plants consultant
3.  Field trips to:  Makua Valley, Paepae Heʿeia (fishpond) and Waipao (cultural center with native plants, loʿi kalo)
4.  Once yearly, faculty weekend immersion experience
5.  Lecture series on Native Hawaiian medicine at Bishop Museum (open also to the public)
