NHCOE Fellowship Training Program

NHCOE’s Fellowship Training Program was established to recruit and retain Native Hawaiian faculty at JABSOM. The goals of the Fellowship Training Program at JABSOM are as follows:

  • To increase the number of Native Hawaiian faculty by producing highly trained faculty candidates through the NHCOE Fellowship
  • To solidify research skills while completing a health disparities research project
  • To develop teaching and academic leadership skills through the JABSOM Office of Medical Education Fellowship in Medical Education
  • To teach medical students and conduct research


  • Be of Native Hawaiian ancestry
  • Completed an MD, PhD or other terminal degree
  • Strong interest and previous experience in health-related research, teaching, and/or academic leadership
  • Able to commit 40% FTE to fellowship, up to 2 years
