| Description: | Early in 1946 the twenty-eighth Maori Battalion returns to New Zealand. As the men disembark, they are welcomed onto Pipitea wharf in Wellington by government officials. A huge hakari follows. Later at Ohau and Ngaruawahia other members of the battalion are received by their own communities. |
