Description: | As the Maori had no written language, their culture was passed down through the generations by way of stories, songs, and carvings. Many of these stories became sacred legends, and seven are presented in the following animated films: Pania of the Reef (from the Kahungunu tribes); Maui Catches the Sun; Kahukura's Net; Te Houtaewa's Run (from the Aupuri tribe); Rata and the Canoe; Tinirau's Pet Whale (from the Whangaparaoa area); and Rau Tapu (Magic Feather) (from the Nga Rauru tribe). |
