| Description: | BŸndel salzhaltiger BlŠtter, von den Eipo 'Uwa' genannt (Psychotria; Rubiaceae), werden zum Glimmen gebracht und in eine aus BananenblŠttern gedrehte Ršhre gesteckt. Das MundstŸck der Ršhre wird in einen durch Kauen von PfefferblŠttern, Ingwer und salzhaltiger Asche hergestellten, dŸnnen Brei getaucht. Der Dampf der glimmenden BlŠtter wird inhaliert.Bundles of leaves containing salt, called 'Uwa' by the Eipo, (Psychotria; Rubiaceae) are made to smoulder and inserted into a tube made by rolling banana leaves. The tube's mouthpiece is immersed in a thin mush made by chewing pepper leaves, ginger and salty ashes. The steam from the smouldering leaves is inhaled. |
