Description: | Paul Gauguin's first impression of the islands of the South Pacific was the breathtaking view of the mountains of Moorea, which he saw from his ship as he sailed into Tahiti. This program reenacts his visit to these islands, toward which he had been journeying -- artistically and spiritually -- all his life. Much of the narration of this program is drawn from Gauguin's Tahitian diary. |
