Description: | The sea is both a larder of food and a pathway to new lands. The fisherman has a special place in Polynesian folklore as the provider of fish and as the navigator, the discoverer of new lands. Land is examined as the foundation of genealogy and the starting point for individual, family, tribe, and national identity. In 1995 John Maynard (Executive Producer) and Mona Papalioi (series narrator) deposited the boxes of unused film footage in the Archive of Maori and Pacific Music, University of Auckland.
