Tefui

The garland that is draped over individuals on special occasions, called tefui in Rotuman, is unique. It is made from sweet smelling flowers and leaves and the spathes of coconut shoots. Decorations include red pandanus kernels and colorful wool. This picture was taken at the installation of Gagaj Poar as chief in Oinafa district in 1990.
