Excellence in Teaching

David Alethea
David Alethea is a professor of philosophy at the University of Hawaii—West Oahu. He brings a keen intellect to his classroom. He also has the ability to make clear difficult philosophical concepts and has an obvious love for his discipline. Alethea knows his subject thoroughly and is eager to transmit his consummate knowledge to his students. He is a true philosopher who exemplifies the subject in which he teaches.
Alethea constantly encourages his students to share their own opinions and ideas in class. His students are left free to develop their ideas after testing them out against his own presentations. The courses he teaches cover the whole spectrum of philosophy, from ancient Greece to modern existentialism. Aletheas students call him challenging, brilliant and passionate.
