Leeward Community College Executive Summary Printer Friendly

Academic Support Services at Leeward Community College are healthy and strong. Demand continues to increase for services provided by academic support units, and in some areas, demand is exceeding current capacity.  The test center has been relocated to the first floor of the Library building.  This new, larger facility can accommodate the increased demand for testing and online proctoring services.

In the area of efficiency, the academic support units continue to provide more services on relatively stable budgets. Efficiency has been improved through the use of technology to provide more services with stable faculty and staff counts.

For effectiveness, all units show a high level of satisfaction with services provided.  With the renovation of the second floor of the Library building into a Learning Commons, several academic support services are now accessible to students in one location.  Circulation services, tutoring services, and an open computer lab are available through the main second floor entrance.  Services for students with disabilities are also available on the second floor through a separate entrance.  Having these services together should further enhance the effectiveness of services provided to students.

Academic Support Services continue to meet the needs of students, but the units are in need of additional funding and support to keep up with demand.
