Programs and Events
In spring 2007, the commission co-sponsored the first annual system-wide LGBTI Conference, featuring keynote addresses by Hawai‘i Board of Education member Kim Coco Iwamoto and local author R. Zamora Linmark.
Safe Zone Programs are available on all ten campuses. The program establishes a network of support and visibility for LGBTI equity by providing allies with posters and materials to share as resources on their campus.
Research and Scholarship
Campus climate is of great concern, as harassment, intimidation, fear and discrimination negatively impact students’ access to education. The commission continues to evaluate campus data and share campus/community resources.
