Manoa presents Hawai‘i Clean Energy Day
Hawai‘i Clean Energy Day, a day-long program of speakers, panels and vigorous discussion centering on the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative, will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UH Manoa.
The event is sponsored by the Manoa’s Hawai‘i Energy Policy Forum and Outreach College, in cooperation with the Blue Planet Foundation and East-West Center.
The goal of the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative is to dramatically increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies to meet 70 percent of Hawai‘i’s energy demand for electricity and ground transportation by 2030. Increasing clean energy and efficiency will reduce Hawai‘i’s reliance on imported oil—improving our economy and energy security—and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Participants will join with other concerned individuals, representatives of state and federal government, the utilities and businesses along with experts from academia and the private and public sectors to learn more about the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative.
