International Exchange ~ Study Abroad ~ National Student Exchange
University of Hawai`i students have many opportunities to study overseas. Two-year as well as four-year students are eligible, depending on the program. Explore your options!

International Exchange Programs (UH-Manoa office)

Eligibility: Minimum third (Junior) year student with 2.5 cumulative GPA; Graduate: Minimum 3.0 GPA. Other requirements vary by program.

Application process: Students must complete Mānoa international exchange application and partner institution’s international student admissions application packet.

Participant info: 1-2 UH students per semester per UH Mānoa department or partner institution (varies according to Mānoa’s exchange agreement with partner). Students go independently to a chosen UH-Mānoa student exchange partner institution.

Cost: UH tuition (partner institution tuition is waived) plus travel, Visa, and accommodation expenses.

Student status: Continuing student. Students must register Study Abroad/Field Study/Independent Study course at UH-Mânoa in order to be classified as a continuing student.

Course credit: Course choices must be approved by your UH M adviser; transcripts from partner institution should be sent to UH Mānoa campus Admissions & Records Office for transfer credit.

Other opportunities: Inquire about all-expense paid or partial-expense paid exchange opportunities.
UH-Mânoa Study Abroad Center

Eligibility: Primarily undergraduates. Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Other requirements vary by program.

Application process: Students must complete UH-Mânoa Study Abroad application form.

Participant info: UH students go as a group. Usually, a UH faculty member (i.e., Resident Director) accompanies the group. Accepted applicants are to attend three mandatory pre-departure orientations and pay a $500 deposit to secure space in the program. (Deposit to be applied toward the total cost of the program.)

Cost: Study abroad fees of that particular program (see website) plus travel expenses.

Student status: Continuing student.

Course credit: Choose from a list of pre-approved courses for credit transfer.

Other opportunities: Students may also design their own study abroad program.
National Student Exchange Program (UH-Manoa)

Some NSE colleges and universities offer international/study abroad programs which can be accessed through NSE.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet both the NSE and host institution’s study abroad eligibility requirements.

Application process: Students must be begin exploring/planning NSE study abroad program 8-10 months in advance.
