The Director’s Office applies for and accepts extramural awards on behalf of UH; this office executes legal agreements, recommends and issues UH policies and procedures relating to extramurally sponsored projects and reports on sponsored research to the UH Board of Regents and the Office of the President.
The Cost Studies and Rate Analysis section performs analyses to estimate and verify costs associated with the administration of research at UH, systemwide, and negotiates indirect cost rates with the federal government; this section performs other cost analyses to support UH leadership.
The Information Systems Support section provides IT support to the Office of Research Services and coordinates electronic research administration (eRA) services for investigators and others at UH across the UH system. This section supports the ORS website and ORS Helpline.
The Contracts and Grants Administration section reviews and negotiates award documents to ensure that award terms and conditions comply with applicable laws, regulations and policies and protect the interests of the University and its investigators. This section services all UH campuses except UH Hilo, JABSOM, CRCH, and MCC.
Contracts and Grants Administration -Kaka'ako (JABSOM & CRCH)
The ORS Kaka’ako Satellite Service Center provides pre-award and post-award contracts and grants services to the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) and the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii (CRCH).
Contracts and Grants Administration -Maui Community College
The ORS Maui Community College (MCC) Satellite Service Center provides pre-award and post-award contracts and grants services to investigators at Maui Community College.
The Pre-Award Section coordinates proposal review and submission, including electronic submission, of applications for extramural support on behalf of UH for all campuses except UH Hilo, JABSOM, CRCH, and MCC. This section provides information and support to investigators and administrators.
The Projects Fiscal Accounting Section establishes and administers project accounts, assuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and award terms and conditions. This section processes reimbursement requests and maintains UH financial records.
