Co-curricular Activities, Programs & Services (CAPS) creates purposeful experiences for students that promote leadership, life skills, and personal development while enhancing campus life. CAPS collaborates with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to provide innovative and intentional programs, services, and activities.

CAPS works with chartered student governance organizations, 200+ registered independent organizations, and intramural sports programs. With the Campus Center Board, CAPS has responsibility for the operation of the Campus Center, including Hemenway Hall, which serves as a community center for UHM providing services, programs, and daily amenities.

Co-curricular Programs. CAPS provides co-curricular programs and learning opportunities which contribute to the quality of student life. CAPS staff members teach student leaders to address and satisfy the diverse needs of their constituencies through planned programs, services, and activites. Among the product outcomes are responsive programs, quality services, educationally meaningful activities, and effective advocacy, purposeful lobbying, responsive policies, networking, and community service.

Leadership Development. CAPS promotes leadership and self-direction among those students who become involved in managing student life activities on campus or who assume an active partnership role in campus governance.
