CSDC provides couseling; psychiatric services; "24/7" on-call Counselor-in-Residence in the residence halls; learning assistance; testing; and intern training; and outreach and consultation.

Clinical Services. Individual and group counseling are the primary services provided to students, faculty and staff by licensed psychologists and doctoral/masters-level counselors-in-training, in personal, career, and education. Group counseling included general counseling, adult children of dysfunctional families and alcoholics, recovering from sexual abuse, men's issues, relationship issues, social and interpersonal skills, relaxation, career development and eating disorders.

Psyciatric Services are provided by three part-time psychiatrists who divide their time between CSDC and University Health Services.

The Counselor-In-Residence Program is jointly administered by CSDC and Student Housing Services. Live-in counselors provide "24/7" on-call services to resident students. Other services include psychological and organizational consultation, assessment, crisis intervention, on-site counseling, training, outreach programming and referral services.

The Learning Assistance Center is a support system for students in skills for college success through diagnostic/prescriptive/evaluative services and learning skills workshops. Training for faculty is provided in skills facilitation, learning consultation, curriculum development, and student performance assessment.

Outreach and Consultation are developed and facilitated by all members of the CSDC professional staff. The Center responds to requests for presentations by programs, department, and organizations across campus and also creates workshops and presentations as proactive measures.

The Testing Office provides testing for students and faculty in conjunction with career and personal couseling. It is the National Testing Program site for university admissions or professional certification (GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, PRAXIS, LSAT, MCAT) for UHM and community; it is also the Hawaii site--fully equipped to provide computer-based testing and on-line examinations for Educational Testing Services (ETS).

Training. CSDC facilitates training in group counseling to graduate students in the College of Education and the School of Nursing. The CSDC pre-doctoral psychology training program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and trains masters and doctoral practicum interns in couselor education, social work and psychology who are top candidates nationally, in counseling and psychotherapy, group work, workshop preparation, and multicultural competence.
