SECE administers University Employment, Non-University Employment, Cooperative Education, Internships, and Federal Work Study for students. This office helps students find meaningful on-campus and off-campus jobs, using progressive career development approach. Students get "real world" professional experience in their field of study. The ultimate goal is to help students clarify their career choice through employment opportunities.

Personal growth and career exploration activities: student employee recognition programs, workshops, and talent search competitions.

Recruitment and referrals: helps employers to recruit pre-professionals through career-oriented programs and UHM students for part-time and temporary positions.

Facilitates work experiences for international students and strives to develop international work experiences for local and national students.

Federal mandates (e.g. America Reads Program and Federal Work Study community service requirement), and University, State and Federal regulations such as FICA, IRCA, EEO, and ADA as they relate specifically to student employees are enforced.
