SECE
administers University Employment, Non-University Employment,
Cooperative Education, Internships, and Federal Work Study
for students. This office helps students find meaningful on-campus
and off-campus jobs, using progressive career development
approach. Students get "real world" professional
experience in their field of study. The ultimate goal is to
help students clarify their career choice through employment
opportunities.
Personal growth and career exploration
activities: student employee recognition programs, workshops,
and talent search competitions.
Recruitment and referrals: helps
employers to recruit pre-professionals through career-oriented
programs and UHM students for part-time and temporary positions.
Facilitates work experiences for
international students and strives to develop international
work experiences for local and national students.
Federal mandates (e.g. America
Reads Program and Federal Work Study community service requirement),
and University, State and Federal regulations such as FICA,
IRCA, EEO, and ADA as they relate specifically to student
employees are enforced.
