Can I contest a citation?
Yes. You have seven days to file an appeal from the date the citation was issued. You can file an
appeal online. The decision rendered on contested citations will be based on the facts presented in the appeals. Please visit our
citations webpage to see valid grounds for granting of appeals.

What happens if I don’t pay for my parking citations?
Your vehicle will be subject to boot or tow. If you are a current or former UH student, a hold will be placed on your account. Citations left unpaid will be sent to a collection agency.

Why was a hold placed on my University account?
Current or former students with outstanding citations are subject to having administrative holds placed on their accounts. To release holds, pay for your citations
online. Holds will be removed within one business day after payment is received.

What does it mean to have a hold placed on my UH account?
You will be unable to register for classes, drop classes, receive a diploma, or obtain transcripts until the hold is released.

I have paid my outstanding citations. When will the hold be removed from my UH account?
Holds are automatically removed the next business day.

Why was my vehicle booted?
Any vehicle found to be illegally parked on the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Campus may be subject to being booted, for reasons including but not limited to: outstanding citations, parking in a reserved stall or disability stall, or parking in prohibited areas that affect health and safety.
Boots will be removed upon payment of a $50 boot release fee.

Why was my vehicle towed?
Any vehicle found to be illegally parked on the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Campus may be subject to a tow away. Situations that may trigger a tow away are outstanding citations, parking in a reserved stall, disability stall, fire lane, in front of a fire hydrant, or any other location considered to be hazardous, illegal, unsafe or unauthorized.
Before your vehicle is released to you, the tow and storage fee must be paid to Ace Towing.

I received a citation notice in the mail for a car I no longer own. Do I have to pay?
A citation obligation for a vehicle you no longer own may be contested by submitting information and/or documentation to the parking hearing officer. The parking hearing officer will determine the validity of the obligation based on information submitted to refute the charge.
