  • How do I apply for a parking permit?
    See the web page – Student Permits for types of parking permits available to students, and for information on how to reserve or apply for a permit.
  • Will I have to pay to re-enter the parking structure if I paid for daily parking earlier in the day?
    No. The daily parking fee allows for unlimited same-day entry into the parking structure.
  • If I live on campus, how do I obtain a parking permit?
    Students living in residence halls use the same process to apply for permits as outlined on our Student Permits webpage.
  • What are my parking options if I don’t have a parking permit?
    Diamond Parking offers daily and monthly rentals at various nearby locations to the UH campus. You may also explore alternative parking solutions at for information on other parking options.
  • Am I allowed to sell my parking permit?
    No. Parking permits are not transferable; any such transfer is subject to disciplinary action.
  • What if I am only taking evening classes?
    Evening permits are available to all registered students. Evening permits are not valid in student housing areas (zones 8 & 21), or visitor parking lots. Evening permits are valid from 1:30 pm - 11:59 pm in the parking structure (zone 20) or from 4:00 pm - 6:30 am in upper campus lots above Dole Street. They are also valid Friday from 1:30 pm thru Sunday midnight in the parking structures.
  • What is a carpool permit?
    Carpool permits are for commuters only. Two or more occupants must be in the vehicle at entry. Carpool permits are valid only up until midnight in the zone 20 parking structure; there is no overnight parking. Payment of the daily fee is still required even with carpool permits if only one occupant is in the vehicle.

    If you do not have a fellow carpooler, you may find one using our RideShare system, available online through MyUH on the UH Life tab.
  • Do I need a permit for my moped?
    Yes. All motorcycles, scooters and mopeds require parking permits to park on campus. These permits are restricted by zone, so please be aware of which zone your permit is valid for – upper campus moped lots, commuter moped lots, or residence moped lots. You must park in your designated moped zone/lot. Maps showing the different moped zones and lots are available here. The fee for the 2009-2010 school year is $27 per semester.
    * Please note that parking mopeds on city sidewalks is subject to tickets and tows.
  • My moped is not registered, what do I do?
    The Honolulu City and County moped licensing office can be reached at (808)733-2540. The office is located at 1112 Kapahulu Avenue (under the freeway) and hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except holidays.
  • Do I need a permit for my bicycle?
    No. All bicycles and electronic assist bicycles may park on campus without a fee. Bicycles must be parked and locked at designated bike racks located throughout campus - map here.
