TRAVEL

May and June are peak travel periods in Hawaii so airline reservations should be made early.  Right now is not too soon.

International participants: Visa requirements vary in different countries and participants should check with their travel agents.  If a visa is required to enter the United States, apply early because some consulates/embassies have long waiting periods.

The Honolulu International Airport is about 20 minutes from the University of Hawaii campus.  The East-West Center, the Conference site, is located next to the campus on East-West Road.  There are airport shuttles (about $6) to Waikiki but not to the campus.  Taxis from the airport to the East-West Center will cost about $20.

ON-CAMPUS ACCOMMODATIONS

Arrangements have been made with the East-West Center to offer participants of the conference accommodations at three on-campus residence halls.  To be eligible for these accommodations at the conference rates, you must let the housing office know that you are participating in the "Ninth East-West Philosophers' Conference" when you make your reservations.  The housing office will have a list of official conference participants.

Accommodations are very limited so reservations should be made as soon as possible if you wish to stay on campus.  A credit card is required.  There is a cancellation charge of one night's stay unless you inform the housing office of the cancellation 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival.
