2010 CrossCurrents Conference

2010 Uehiro CrossCurrents Philosophy Conference:

The Value of Difference

March 18th - 19, 2010

Speakers:

Dr. Chung-ying Cheng, professor UH-Mānoa, founder and editor of the Journal of Chinese Philosophy and founding president of the International Society of Chinese Philosophy

Dr. Peter Hershock, Asian Studies Development Program, East-West Center, research scholar at the intersection between living Buddhist philosophy and contemporary values

Dr. Suwanna Satha-anand,  Professor and Former Chair of the Philosophy Department at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) specializing in the engagement of Buddhist philosophy with contemporary issues such as human rights, women's studies, and peace.

The Uehiro CrossCurrents Philosophy Conference is dedicated to showcasing exceptional work by graduate and advanced undergraduate students in comparative philosophy broadly construed (not limited to East-West comparisons).  We welcome the submission of papers of high quality in any area of philosophy. Papers of a comparative nature are of particular interest. However often comparative panels include papers addressing a common issue from the perspective of alternative traditions.
