The Public Health Law Organization (PHLO) is a student organization at the William S. Richardson , School of Law founded in January 2003. PHLO's objectives are to promote public health awareness, to participate in public health activities, and to encourage discussion about public health issues.
At Present PHLO has about twenty-five members who have an interest in public health and/or are health professionals themselves. Our mission is to promote greater awareness of, and participation in, public health issues and activities in Hawaii.
PHLO participates in the legislative process and monitors bills relating to Elder health, Environmental Health, and Hawaiian health issues. In addition, when hearings are scheduled on a particular bill, PHLO may submit testimony supporting or opposing the bill.
Finally, PHLO is in the process of reviewing articles for the third volume of its online publication, the Public Health Law and Policy Journal.
Our Goal is to improve this Website on an ongoing basis. We welcome any suggestions you have to help us achieve this goal. If you have any corrections, additions or general suggestions, please contact us.
