DMU Health P.A.S.S. Program
Des Moines University's Health Professions Advanced Summer Scholars Program - the Health P.A.S.S. - is a great way to prepare for and enhance your chances of getting in medical, physician assistant, or physical therapy school.
Offered in July, the program is high-quality, hands-on and FREE to the participants! Des Moines University will cover the full costs of your meals, materials and residence hall housing at nearby Drake University.
Students will be able to learn from lectures and presentations in four clinical areas, enjoy hands-on experiences in DMU's state-of-the-art facilities, shadow doctors and other care providers, enhance your preparation, confidence, and success, and benefit from informal interactions with DMU faculty, students and staff.
Enrollment is limited to 10 students. Preference will be given to qualified applicants from populations underrepresented in medicine and health care, including minority, low-income and/or first-generation college students. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to participate.

2012 Summer Student Research Program
Hawaii Pacific Health is currently accepting applications for the 2012 Summer Student Research Program (SSRP)!
This eight-week internship provides an in-depth, hands-on immersion into the world of medicine and clinical research. Ten to twelve university students will be competitively selected to become members of research teams, typically led by a physician from the community, to complete a research project over the course of the program.
Additionally, students participate in a structured medical curriculum that includes the "Life Cycle of Research" course, "Careers in Medicine" talks with physicians of various specialties, and visits to medical facilities. Other optional activities allow students to explore their interests in a wide range of medical specialties.

China California Heart Watch
The China California Heart Watch, a non-for-profit charity whose mission includes medical research, teaching and clinical care in rural Yunnan Province, China is seeking students, particularly those interested in future careers in medicine, public health, or related fields to participate in one of several internships this year. This program allows students the opportunity for first-hand experience of medical problems - particularly cardiovascular problems - and care in the impoverished communities of Yunnan.
Each of the five internships is open to 10-15 students. Students are required to cover the cost of all travel expenses to/from and within China, including room and board. The program requests a tax-free donation of $2000 for each of the summer programs or $1500 for the December program.
The following are the dates for the five internship programs:

Medical Assistant Position
Duties include reception work, triaging patients, scheduling, and assisting physician in daily duties in extremely busy pediatric and internal medicine (adult) practice. Individual will be trained on the job, but he or she must make a significant commitment, self-motivated, and comfortable multi-tasking.
