Modified Royalty Sharing Formula for Faculty

As of its ratification on April 17, 2001, the 2001-2005 Collective Bargaining Agreement (UH-UHPA CBA) between UH Board of Regents and the UH Professional Assembly, changed the royalty sharing formula established by RP 12.205 Board of Regents Patent and Copyright Policy and EP 12.205 Administration of the Patent and Copyright Policy for university employees that are UHPA members. For inventions disclosed to the University after July 1, 2001, the Collective Bargaining Agreement provides that for UHPA members only, inventors are entitled to receive a share of the net revenues from the sale or exploitation of inventions according to the following schedule:

Net Revenues Inventor Share
Up to $100,000 2/3
$100,001 to $200,000 1/2
$200,001 to $300,000 5/12
$300,001 and up 1/3

University inventors in other collective bargaining units are still subject to the original fifty percent royalty sharing percentage established by the policies.
