Following is a notice issued to the campus as required by the Clery Campus Security Act
Campus Security responded to a report from a female student on Saturday evening, August 19, at 7:15 p.m., who stated that she had been followed by an unknown male who at one point attempted to grab her from behind. She pulled away, and he grabbed her dorm key that was on a lanyard around her neck. She was able pull the lanyard away and run to the entrance at Hale Aloha Lehua. The male suspect did not follow her any farther.
She reported that she was on the Ewa walkway heading away from the Hale Aloha Courtyard. She did not decide to report the incident until about 10:00 p.m., after talking with her mother.
The incident was reported to Housing Staff, but the student did not want to report it to HPD or talk with a counselor.
The description of the male she provided is as follows:
Caucasian, approximately 40-50 years of age, medium build, 6 feet tall, 180 lbs., tan complexion with short gray hair.
Anyone seeing any kind of suspicious activity or people that create an uncomfortable environment or pose a direct threat to safety and security on or near university property should report this to UH Campus Security – 956-6911.
