Security Alert

October 10, 2007

A female student reported that on Saturday evening at about 8:15 pm, she was walking to the Hale Anuenue residence hall on Varsity Place, returning from the 7-11 store near Puck's Alley. She was approached by a male driving an older model gold- or beige-colored van, who first whistled at her, then said, "Hey baby, get in the car."

She refused and started walking more quickly, but he also sped up and became more insistent that she get in the van. She then ran to Hale Anuenue, where there were other people nearby. The van sped away down Varsity Place. She called Campus Security and HPD from the front desk of the hall.

This alert is to caution everyone to be aware of circumstances around you, and if you are a recipient of unwanted advances, as in this case, never be afraid to refuse and to seek help. Call 911 for HPD and 95(66911) for Campus Security.
