Attempted Sexual Assault
Monday, June 19, 2000
During the past few weeks there have been reports of attempted sexual assaults having occurred in the Student Residential Halls. These attempts have been alleged to happen either late at night or early morning hours. The perpetrator is discovered in a female student's room attempting to fondle her while she is sleeping. When she wakes, the suspect runs out of the room and disappears. In one or more cases he jammed the door with a shoe so he could make a quick escape. We currently do not have a useable description to provide.
In all cases to date, the doors to the rooms have been left unlocked while the student was sleeping.
We would caution as strongly as possible that every student residing in Student Housing to lock their doors at night.
If you are a victim, or see anything suspicious report the incident to the Hall Staff and to Campus Security immediately! In addition if you have any knowledge of these incidents call Capt. Dawson at 69858.
