Closing Out the Year

By Jason Redulla
Campus Security Officer

The 1997-'98 School year has come to a close, and many students, faculty and staff members are looking forward to a relaxing summer break.

The Spring semester has been challenging for the Campus Security Department. It has been said that the UH-Manoa Campus is a "city within a city." With that comes activities normally found in cities -- and unfortunately, that includes crime.

Recently, Campus Security logs report numerous incidents of property crime as well as crimes against people and public order. Your Campus Security Department is fighting the battle against crime daily, but we cannot do it alone. We need your help. If you see a crime in progress, see anything suspicious or unusual, notify Campus Security immediately. Call 956-6911, use the emergency callboxes situated around the campus or use our new on-line tipster service.

You don't have to leave your name and can remain anonymous. The information you may have can be the missing link that can solve cases and prevent other University Community members like yourself from being a victim. Be the eyes and ears of Campus Security.

Also remember to do your part, stay alert when traveling about the Campus, and always safeguard your belongings. Let's all make the 1998-'99 School year a safe and happy one without victims of crime.
