Start the semester with
safety and security
The Fall 1998 semester has begun, and UH students, faculty and staff will be returning to the campus. The Fall semester is typically a busy time for many, including unfortunately, the criminal element.Theft is typically the most prevalent problem on the Manoa campus.
Many students will be using bicycles and mopeds to get around the campus. Protect your bicycle and moped by securing it. Locks are relatively inexpensive and offer varying degrees of protection for your bike or moped. Remember to secure them to an immoveable object. Registering your moped with the Parking & Traffic Office will assist in identifying it should it be taken. Last year, the Campus Security department apprehended several individuals suspected of stealing bikes and moped but we need your help. Do your part by securing these valuable means of transportation.
Some students will be receiving Financial Aid checks to help offset the costs of their education. Protect and store them in a secure location.
Your physical safety is also important.
If you see anything unusual or suspicious or are the victim of a crime, notify Campus Security immediately. Prompt reports of these circumstances assist our officers' abilities to apprehend and identify suspects as well as secure key pieces of evidence of a crime.
With the assistance of all members of the university community, the Fall 1998 semester will be prosperous and fulfilling while at the same time, a period of safety and security for all.
