Reporting Crimes and Emergencies

Crimes and other emergencies on campus can be reported directly to the Dispatch Office by dialing 6-6911 from any university telephone on campus. There are also 66 emergency call boxes (identified by a blue light mounted above the box) located throughout campus that automatically connect the caller to a dispatcher when the handset is picked up.

During normal business hours, on-campus callers may also contact a dispatcher through the campus operator by dialing "0." The operator will communicate the emergency to a dispatcher. To reach the dispatcher from off-campus telephones, dial 956-6911. In non-emergency situations, dial 6-8211 (on-campus phone) or 956-8211 (off-campus phone).

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to report all suspicious activities and/or persons observed on campus. Such calls should be made promptly to improve officers' ability to apprehend suspects and/or prevent potential crimes. Upon receipt of a call, officers are dispatched immediately to the site of the emergency. All incidents are investigated and a report is filed by the investigating officer.
