Asian Studies Program Students: Scholarships/Fellowships

The Asian Studies Program is pleased to announce a scholarship competition for continuing Asian Studies Program graduate (MA) and undergraduate (BA) students of all area focuses

General Information

• Starr is for continuing Asian Studies MA students
• Shigeta and JTB are primarily for Asian Studies BA (juniors and seniors) majors although MA students are considered
• Open to international and U.S. students
• FLAS (graduate fellowship) awardees are not eligible

Amount

• $4,000 for James Shigeta (1 award)
• $2,000 for JTB (1) and Starr (6 awards)

Uses

• field study
• summer language study
• research or conference travel
• general study expenses (tuition, etc)

Criteria

• continuing and full-time classified status
• exemplary performance in the Asian Studies Program
• promise in the field of Asian Studies
• funds must be expended before date of graduation or Spring/Summer 2008, whichever is earliest
