Prospective Students
Want to study Asia and/or the Pacific?
Want more than your institution offers?
Want to come to Hawaii?
Here are some possibilities!
For Individuals
- WICHE/WUE The way to get the greatest benefit is
to come and enroll in one of the University's programs. SPAS offers
degrees in
Asian and
Pacific Islands studies.
You may be able to get a break in tuition if you are an undergraduate from a Western state. Check out the WICHE/WUE page. You may be able to pay 150 percent of UHM's regular resident tuition. WUE tuition is considerably less than nonresident tuition. Check UHM tuition rates and do the math.
National Student Exchange The National Student Exchange (NSE), is another possibility. The University of Hawaii is a member institution. Check to see if your's is. NSE offers exchanges for up to one year.
A Semester ALMOST Abroad If you are unable to attend for the full program, how about A Semester ALMOST Abroad. This will give you a wonderful opportunity to sample the richness of the University and the state, at a fraction of the cost of a four year program. And you will receive credit for your courses.
For Groups of College and University Students
Short-Term in Hawaii Student groups (minumum of 14 students) can participate in SPAS' own Short-Term in Hawaii program. SPAS offers programs during the semester break or in the summer. Because these programs must be organized by a faculty member at your school, it may be possible to obtain credits at your institution.
