Additional Opportunities
Please feel free to take advantage of the following opportunities to supplement your program.
Leisure Courses The University of Hawai'i Leisure Center provides
students with a variety of activities that complements the academic
experience. Activities offered by the Leisure Center include yoga,
T'ai Chi, Tahitian dancing, hula, sailing, surfing, body boarding,
scuba, hiking and kayaking. Should you be interested in adding these
activities to your itinerary, please contact our program office to
make reservations. The costs for these activities vary, and payment
should be made directly to the Leisure Center at the time of the
activity.
Feature Films & Asia Video
Consider adding a film night to your Short-term itinerary. The
University of Hawai'i Wong Audio Visual Library has a wide variety of
films and documentaries, including
hundreds of videotapes and feature films on China, Japan, Korea,
Asian religions, 179 on
India, almost 500 on Native Hawaiian issues, 350 on the Pacific
Islands, and over 400 on Southeast Asia. Contact our program staff
for film recommendations. We will reserve the film and viewing room
for you and your students.
Community Building It is always a good idea to build a sense of
community among your students at the onset of a group study tour.
Several groups have achieved this through group activities scheduled
within the first 24 hours of arrival. Groups in the past have chosen
to hike Diamond Head, take a day-long tour of Honolulu on an open-air
trolley, and an evening dinner in Waikiki. Please feel free to
contact our program office for suggestions.
