H1N1 Flu Updates

Monday, November 9, 2009, 9:00 AM

Although the H1N1 flu vaccine is arriving in the State of Hawai'i, UHSM is still awaiting our shipment of the vaccine. Initial doses received in the State are being distributed to first medical responders (e.g., emergency medical services and hospital workers), hospitals, and pediatrics and obstetrics medical offices. Once UHSM receives the H1N1 influenza vaccine, we plan to initially offer vaccination to current UHM students who fit into one of the following first priority groups:

  1. Pregnant women
  2. Health care workers
  3. Caretakers or family members of infants less than 6 months age
  4. Persons aged from 6 months to 24 years
  5. Persons with chronic medical conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, heart disease) aged from 25 to 64 years

Immunization scheduling details will be announced, as soon as the vaccine arrives.
