LOKAHI PROGRAM
Based at the Health Promotion Resource Center, the LOKAHI program provides training to peer educators, who offer group presentations in classrooms and residence halls, conduct health fairs, and participate in orientation programs. Peer educators are especially effective at increasing student awareness of important health issues, and they gain valuable experience in public speaking and education.

Presentations offered include:
  • Healthy Body Image
  • Health & Wellness
  • Alcohol & Other Drugs in the College Community
  • Sexual Health
  • W.I.S.H. - Why Is Smoking Harmful
  • Safe Dating

Please allow 2-weeks advanced notice prior to requested presentation date. For more information or requests, please call 956-3574.

Hawaii-Pacific Islands Campus Compact

A Service Learning course, EDEP 411, is provided each semester for upper level undergraduates and graduate students. Students learn about health promotion and health topics and integrate that knowledge with practical experience in the field. The LOKAHI program and the course are partially supported by Hawaii-Pacific Islands Campus Compact.

Volunteer opportunities are also offered. For more information on how you can become a peer educator or just lend a helping hand, please visit us in QLCSS 313-D.
