The University of Hawaii at Manoa, University Health Services, has been awarded a four-year, $240,000 grant from Anheuser-Busch for alcohol prevention programming. Based on successful programs at other universities, the Manoa Alcohol Project (MAP) was developed in 2005 under the University Health Services to help reduce high-risk and under-age drinking among freshmen in the UH Manoa residence halls. University Health Services' Health Promotion Chair Nancy Stockert said the new funding will allow the Manoa Alcohol Project to expand beyond the residence halls and also provide training for resident hall advisers and other staff members. Surveys for alcohol use on campus, posters and other promotional materials will contribute to the campaign. |
