The New Look
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the University of Hawaii System website makeover.
What is going on here?
A "System" site
The newly redesigned University of Hawaii "System" site represents and supports all the campuses, education centers, research institutes and programs of the extended UH family.
The word "System" also refers to the people and offices that serve the entire organization rather than providing campus-specific functions. Check out the Leadership section and our various system offices to learn more.
Information related to the flagship Manoa campus and other campus-specific content will be migrated to the new Manoa site (see below).
A made-over Manoa site (Coming Soon!)
The Manoa site is being madeover as well. Many pages now on www.hawaii.edu will be migrated to manoa.hawaii.edu. Watch for the new site coming soon!
Our 10 Campuses. . . and their URLs
The System perspective is also reflected in the deployment of new campus URLs that bring predictability to the naming structure.
You can now find UH Hilo’s website at hilo.hawaii.edu, Honolulu Community College at honolulu.hawaii.edu and so on. Just use http://campus.hawaii.edu/ and replace "campus" with your campus name.
Information Technology Services is also embarking on a long-term project to clean up our URL space. This involves
- Establishing hawaii.edu URLs that are memorable and durable
- Organizing URL space in a coherent manner
- Migrating existing sites into the new, logical space
- Assigning content responsibility to ensure information remains current
Questions about the URL renaming and cleanup should be directed to webhead@hawaii.edu.
