DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation on journalism, truth, and power with Pulitzer-winning reporter Sacha Pfeiffer of the Boston Globe’s Spotlight investigative team.\n \nPfeiffer has worked in both radio and print media and has won numerous awards in both arenas, including the George Polk and Edward R. Murrow awards. As part of the Globe’s Spotlight team, she revealed decades of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church as well as systematic concealment by church leadership. (This case was the subject of the film Spotlight, in which Rachel McAdams plays Pfeiffer.) She has also reported major stories on shoddy housing construction and financial misconduct by private charities. She is the co-author of Betrayal: The Crisis in the Catholic Church, and has served as a John S. Knight journalism fellow at Stanford.\n \nThe conversation will be moderated by Richard Hornik, a longtime reporter and editor at TIME and ASIAWEEK, and a Daniel K. Inouye Visiting Scholar at UH Mānoa’s School of Communications.\n\nSponsored by: College of Social Sciences - School of Communications, and Public Policy Center; College of Arts & Humanities; UH Manoa Chancellor's Office; Carol Burnett Fund for Responsible Journalism; Scholars Strategy Network\n \n
