DESCRIPTION:The urgency to achieve greater success and new political directions have created an atmosphere ripe for programmatic change in the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) environment program in the Asia Region. This presentation will explore some of the causes for change, new directions in programming, and outlook for success; and will also provide info/materials for those who are interested in joining USAID as a career.\n\nMr. Alfred Nakatsuma has dedicated his career to international development with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He is a member of the Senior Foreign Service, and served USAID missions in Bolivia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Philippines, the Regional Asia mission in Bangkok, and in Washington DC Headquarters. Prior to his current position as USAID Development Diplomat in Residence (DDIR) for California, Hawaii, and Nevada, he was the Director of USAID/Asia's Regional Environment Office where he oversaw US foreign assistance for environmental activities in 24 countries. Mr. Nakatsuma has a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and a Master of Arts in Economics and a Master in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Southern California.\n
