DESCRIPTION:Students, veterans, family members, and advocates will have an opportunity to meet the first woman to become a general officer as a military judge advocate and learn more about how the judicial appeals process for veterans claims works at a seminar from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 at the new Clinical Building at the William S. Richardson School of Law. This workshop is organized by the Elder Law Program and the Elder Law Clinic - Veterans Focus at the UH Law School\n\nBrig. Gen (Retired) Pietsch will relate what prompted her in law school to seek a commission as a judge advocate upon graduation from law school and how she was able to navigate through the ranks in assignments in the U.S. and overseas. Judge Pietsch will discuss her appointment to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and will provide important updates on recent cases at the CAVC and how they may have an effect on veterans.  CAVC is not part of the Department of Veterans Affairs but is part of the United States Judiciary. \n\nCome see the new law school Clinical Building and join us at 2:30 for a reception for Judge Pietsch. Light refreshments will be provided. The conversation with Judge Pietsch will start at 3:30.\n\n
