This competition plays out over domains and dimensions ranging from the military to institutions to narratives. This presentation examines the core strengths and shortcomings of the United States in the ongoing competition, including the status of U.S. relations with regional allies and partners. It offers a perspective on what priorities should animate U.S. regional policy in the years ahead.\n\nSatu Limaye is Vice President of the East-West Center and the Director of the East-West Center in Washington where he created and now directs the Asia Matters for America initiative and is the founding editor of the Asia Pacific Bulletin. He is also a Senior Advisor at CNA Corp (Center for Naval Analyses) and Senior Fellow on Asia History and Policy at the Foreign Policy Institute at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and received his doctorate from Oxford University (Magdalen College) where he was a George C. Marshall Scholar.
