DESCRIPTION:The scientist who made the case for Hawai‘i as rainbow capitol of the world in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society will talk about the science behind the fascinating phenomenon during a free hybrid program at 5 p.m. on Thursday June 16.\n\n\n\nDr. Steven Businger is a  certified consulting meteorologist, UHM professor of atmospheric sciences and co-creator of the RainbowChase phone app. In “The Secrets of the Best Rainbows on Earth,” he identifies 22 Hawaiian terms describing rainbows (including  circular, fragment, double, earth-clinging, lunar and barely visible) and explains the physics that create rainbows and make Hawai‘i a prime viewing location.\n\n\n\nParticipants can attend in person at the Agricultural Sciences Building Room 219 or via Zoom.
