DESCRIPTION:This webinar will provide an overview of the work of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) also known as the “Khmer Rouge Tribunal.” This Tribunal was created to prosecute former senior Khmer Rouge leaders and others considered “most responsible” for the atrocities committed in Cambodia between April 1975 and January 1979. It will also discuss some of the controversies surrounding the Tribunal, ranging from corruption allegations, to political interference and sharp disagreements over the number of individuals to be tried.
