DESCRIPTION:Let's meet the Author and His Memoir, Curtis Chin, "Everything I Learned, I learned in a Chinese Restaurant". His memoir has made several fall "Must Read" lists including in the Washington Post and Time Magazine. It's a candid, sometimes funny reflection on growing up Chinese American and Gay in Detroit in the '70's and '80's. Chin delves into racism, gay rights, and other social justice issues, but not by force-feeding them. This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Ethnic Studies, Center for Oral History, Center for Chinese Studies, Center for biographical Research, and Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i.
