Student Associations

SLSSA (Second Language Studies Student Association) – An active student association that includes both BA and graduate students. SLSSA has both social and academic activities throughout the school year.

The ABCs of SLS (the Second Language Studies Undergraduate Club) – The ABCs of SLS is our student organization for undergraduates interested in Second Language Studies.  It performs a variety of academic, social, and administrative functions, and also serves as a way for undergraduate students to interact with SLS graduate students and faculty outside the classroom.  (See us on Facebook!)

Languages, Cross-Cultural Opportunities, & International Student Organizations – Many SLS students take advantage of the many cross-cultural opportunities offered at UH Manoa, including over 25 language courses, from Arabic to Vietnamese, over 20 student organizations promoting language and cross-cultural understanding, and study abroad programs in countries throughout the world.

Thursday Lecture Series – SLS faculty, grad students, and visiting scholars talk about their current research, special SLS programs, employment opportunities, and more every Thursday.
