Emily Lee (李文曦) joined the Department of Second Language Studies as Program Specialist in September 2013. She assists the Department Chair and Graduate Chair with graduate admissions, student development, SLS scholarship management, and alumni engagement. Supporting the Undergraduate Coordinator, she also identifies opportunities for internships and practical experience for SLS undergraduate students. Emily serves as SLS Employment Officer and is content manager of the departmental website.

Over the past decade, Emily has worked as editor; translator; ESL/EFL teacher for children and adults; and assistant coordinator in a public K–12 Mandarin-English dual immersion program. She holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MA in Second Language Studies from UH-Mānoa. She speaks Mandarin, French, and Spanish, owed to the generosity and kindness of ʻohana whom she met while living in Taiwan, France, and Colombia.

A generation 1.5 immigrant from the outskirts of Taipei, Taiwan and Boulder, Colorado, Emily feels most at home in Honolulu. She is also an aspiring ceramic artist and can be found volunteering with the Hawaiʻi Potters’ Guild.
