Achievement Scholarship Tuition Awards

The Department of SLS is allotted a dollar amount of tuition achievement scholarship awards each semester for full-time graduate students. The tuition awards are a dollar amount that is credited toward the student’s overall tuition costs.

The main criterion for tuition awards is academic promise and achievement, the primary measure of which is a student’s cumulative GPA. For newly-admitted graduate students, this is computed by Graduate Admissions; Admissions and Records figures this for continuing students.

A secondary consideration in awarding tuition awards is the number and amount of previous awards. Students who have received as many as four semesters of tuition awards are typically low enough in priority that an additional award may not be available.

Tuition awards are awarded for one semester. Students holding tuitions awards must take at least the minimum full-time course load. (See Course Loads)

STUDENTS GRANTED TUITION AWARDS DO NOT PAY THE TUITION AMOUNT OF THE AWARD, BUT THEY DO HAVE TO PAY THE OTHER STUDENT FEES (Campus Center fee, activity fee, board of publications fee, Graduate Student Organization fee, late registration fee, change of program after the initial registration fee.) Students who fail to pay such fees may find their registration blocked or canceled.

International as well as American students are eligible for tuition waivers.
