GSO (Graduate Student Organization)

The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) was begun in 1971. Current information is available online.

Each department selects a representative to the Graduate Student Organization Assembly (in the case of the Department of SLS, HATESL takes responsibility). This representative is a link from the graduate students of the university to the department.

The assembly usually meets twice a semester.

The GSO also has a Graduate Student Organization Council whose members are elected from the assembly members. This council meets twice a month.

The officers of the GSO are president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

The GSO has a travel fund to help offset travel expenses for qualified graduate students who will be making presentations or reading papers at out-of-state conferences. Applications for these travel grants are reviewed by the GSO Travel Fund Committee, and grants are awarded by the Graduate Student Council. Further information is available from the GSO office, x68776. Students whose papers are accepted at conferences or conventions should give consideration to applying to the GSO for travel money, as such applications are expected before applications for DSLS funding will be considered. Application blanks are available from the GSO, Hemenway Hall 212, 2445 Campus Rd.
